Joshua Simelton is a multi-dimensional communications professional who understands people and the stories they want to tell. From a young age, he has been intrigued with the process of relationship building and storytelling. Joshua is well versed in the media world, having worked in local news, digital marketing and sports.
As a producer at Fox 46 Charlotte, Joshua led teams of journalists and photographers through some of the biggest news stories regionally and nationally including: Charlotte riots, Mother Emanuel AME Church shooting, San Bernardino shooting, Carolina Panthers historic run to Super Bowl 50 and coverage of the 2016 United States presidential election. It was also in local news where Joshua truly learned the importance of fostering positive relationships between clients, the media and the community.
In order to expand his expertise in the ever-growing communications field, Joshua decided to take on a new challenge in the Digital Marketing space. As a Senior Digital Project Manager, he was afforded the opportunity to work with small to midsize businesses locally and nationally, creating strategies to enhance the digital profile for more than 100 companies. From building websites and implementing SEO best practices, to tracking digital growth through Google Analytics, Joshua was able to help increase business profits and digital visibility for his clients.
Prior to joining the NP Strategy team, Joshua worked as a Multimedia Content Producer, and later News Editor, for an international sports news agency. He collaborated with some of the world’s biggest brands (Nike, Adidas, Hublot, Uniqlo, HBO, Showtime) and covered the biggest events in sports. Joshua has worked as a writer, field producer and videographer during Super Bowls, NBA All-Star weekends, NFL Draft, Masters, U.S. Open golf, International Champions Cup and championship boxing matches, to name a few.
A native North Carolinian, Joshua has lived in Charlotte most of his life and earned his Communication Studies degree from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. When he’s not chasing after his two children, Zoë and Kalen, he’s trying out new recipes in the kitchen with his wife Stefanny or tasting the latest seasonal flavor of local craft beer.
