The Carolina heelsplitter, a freshwater mussel, is considered an endangered species. In an effort of environmental stewardship, OceanaGold’s Haile Operation worked to preserve the species on its property, making it possible for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to propagate the heelsplitter and later release them into the wild. The release was documented, later packaged and narrated in a news-style format, ready for online consumption.
